DWD38 Series

The DWD38 Series is a heavy-duty optical incremental encoder designed for demanding applications. It features a draw-works threaded shaft, optional field-replaceable shaft adapters, and configurations with dual isolated outputs for redundancy. The encoder is available with anodized aluminum, electroless nickel, or stainless-steel housing options.

Standard Operating Characteristics

  • Encoder Type: Incremental, optical
  • Resolution: 1 to 20,000 PPR (pulses per revolution)
  • Output Format: Two-channel quadrature (AB), with optional Index (Z) and complementary outputs.
  • Phase Sense: A leads B during counter-clockwise (CCW) shaft rotation when viewed from the encoder shaft end.
  • Quadrature Phasing: 90° ±30° electrical
  • Symmetry: 180° ±25° electrical
  • Index: 180° standard, gated to B low.
  • Waveform: Square wave with rise and fall times below 1 microsecond when driving a 1000 pF load capacitance.
