SPOT ACTUATOR
The SPOT Actuator is a compact motorized positioning system designed to work with the SPOT+ AL pyrometer in aluminium extrusion applications. It can be used at the billet reheat furnace exit, press entry and exit, and quench exit, with both automatic and operator-controlled operation.
At the furnace exit, the actuator moves the pyrometer along the billet to create a detailed temperature profile. At the press exit, it accurately tracks the extruded profile and provides temperature feedback to the press control system for dynamic speed adjustment.
Its fast and precise movement makes it easy to reposition the pyrometer after die changes or changes in extrusion position, including multi-cavity applications and narrow profiles. It can also track sections that move or wander as they exit the quench.
Hotspot Auto-Scan
The actuator features an automatic hotspot scanning function that scans the available movement range and positions the pyrometer toward the hottest point of the extrusion. The scan can be initiated manually or through an external PLC command, making alignment faster and reducing operator intervention.
Cooling Plate
For installations where ambient temperatures exceed 50°C, an optional water-cooled Cooling Plate can be fitted between the mounting surface and actuator. It acts as a thermal barrier, helping protect the actuator from excessive heat and ensuring reliable operation.
