The 9000Ex-31 and 9000Ex-32 Smart Current Drivers are designed to safely transfer 4–20 mA control signals from a safe area to equipment installed in hazardous or explosive environments. They provide galvanic isolation while operating devices such as I/P converters, electric valves, and valve positioners.
These compact DIN-rail mounted modules help protect intrinsically safe circuits by limiting the transfer of electrical energy. They also support bidirectional HART communication, allowing communication between hazardous and non-hazardous areas through a HART communicator.
The Smart Current Drivers are useful in industrial automation for controlling field devices, transmitting signals related to temperature, pressure, and flow, and monitoring or controlling equipment operating in potentially explosive environments. They also help reduce problems caused by electrical noise, ground loops, and voltage spikes.
An important difference between the two models is their Line Fault Detection capability. The 9000Ex-31 can detect both open-circuit and short-circuit faults, while the 9000Ex-32 supports open-circuit fault detection.
With their high accuracy, low drift, strong isolation, compact design, and low power consumption, these Smart Current Drivers provide a reliable solution for safely controlling and communicating with field devices in hazardous industrial areas.
